Pershing Field Garden Friends™ (PFGF) celebrated the first weekend of summer on Friday, June 17th at 942 Summit Ave Co-op for its Fundraiser, Summer Wind: an evening of poetry, prose and song to benefit the gardens at Pershing Field. The cool and inviting venue and tasty treats were hosted by Choc O Pain and Bloomsbury Square.
The second in our Solstice Series was again emceed by PFGF™’s very own Mauro Altamura. He was instrumental (no pun intended) in connecting us again to the rich musical talent right here in our neighborhood. Great job, Mauro!!
Thanks to Din, a contemporary, jazz-infused trio, based in Jersey City Heights wowing the audience with their cool contemporary sound. On electric Bass and vocals was Timothy Erbach, Andrea Stevenson played drums, and her main band is called Cachabacha. John Kadian was on keyboards, he also plays with the Kadian Quartet.
We appreciate the works of Michael Liska, Nancy Burke (Toomey) and Michael VanCalbergh who shared their poetry and prose… insightful, sensitive and often times amusing.
Thanks to Susan Newman from Susan Newman Design Inc. for creating our promotional materials and to the staff of Choc O Pain and Bloombury Sq for their warmth and attentiveness throughout the evening. Most importantly, we thank our Community for their unwavering support.
The third of our Solstice Series, Falling Leaves, will be held on Friday, September 23rd, 2016. If you are a writer, poet or musician and would like to participate at one of our future events, please email email@example.com or call 201-259-1800.
